In 1987 Mike returned to Europe to assume responsibility for Industrial sales at Diamdel Antwerp and was then seconded to the sales office of Hindustan Diamonds in Mumbai for three years as Assistant Technical Advisor in the Sales office there. Then it was back to Diamdel Antwerp to assume responsibility for Indian goods and then +2 carat gems.

Mike joined the DTC in September 1976 as a trainee Diamond Sorter and, after the highlights of Diamdel Antwerp and the DTC's Training School in Kirby Street, joined the company's Overseas Buying staff in 1980.
Over the next seven years Mike managed to get to Burundi, Congo Brazzaville and Zaire (now the DRC) where he ran the DTC’s offices in Kinshasa, Kananga and Tschikapa, and opened a new office in Kahemba. During this time Mike also managed to work for a short while in the recovery plant at the Miba mine.
In November 1994, 14 years after he first left the UK, Mike returned to the Sales Department in London as Market Controller for Belgium and the US. He became Senior Key Account Manager for the Western Hemisphere in 2001 and for the Eastern Hemisphere in 2003. In 2006 Mike was appointed Head of Client Management, taking joint responsibility, with Philip Stockton, in 2007 for running the Sales department.
